Rangers supporters have been in fine voice in the Transfer Tavern this week after seeing their side begin 2018 with an excellent 2-0 victory over Aberdeen at Ibrox on Wednesday night, thus moving above the Dons into second place in the Scottish Premiership table.
Graeme Murty’s men twice got the better of Derek McInnes’ side in recent months to move right back into contention for second place in the division, and the Gers now lead that race after clinching all three points on Wednesday. Goals either side of half time from Alfredo Morelos and James Tavernier were enough to see off Aberdeen and thus move the Scottish giants up to second place in the table, albeit still 11 points behind Old Firm rivals and leaders Celtic.
Nonetheless, there have been many buoyant Rangers fans in the Tavern this week, several of whom are optimistic about the year ahead for their side, following on from an overall underwhelming and turbulent 2017.
In the meantime though, there has been plenty for our resident Gers supporters to discuss, not least recent reports suggesting that defender Danny Wilson is on the verge of leaving the club for Major League Soccer outfit Colorado Rapids.
The 26-year-old returned to Ibrox back in 2013 after a three-year spell at Liverpool, playing 22 times for the Gers in last season’s ultimately disappointing campaign, and 14 this time round as Murty seeks to steady the ship.
However, it looks as though the Scottish centre-back is on his way out of the club, in news which has stimulated quite a response from Rangers fans on Twitter…
I trust the direction that Murty is taking us but I think this could be a big mistake. Fancied Cardoso to head before Wilson.

What a waste …..only just started playing well

Danny Wilson has all the attributes of a great defender…bar concentration. He’s only 26 years old and about to leave Rangers where he has a first team place to go to the MLS. You’ve got to question whether he actually likes playing football given his career so far.

Danny Wilson – going to be such a huge loss if he does go to the MLS, his pre liverpool form has came back and now he isnt signing a contract, just through the money at him Rangers pic.twitter.com/oncHK5VRLe

2018 is crazy when rangers fans are sad the Wilson is leaving after 5 good games in 3 years but are desperate for euros winning Portugal International bruno Alves to leave #rangers

The cynical approach to that is he was either expecting a new contract or a move. It’ll be a loss but he goes with my best wishes.

Personally think it’s a disgrace that Danny Wilson is being aloud to leave Rangers so easily. Big loss @RangersFC
