Crystal Palace will send scouts to watch Fenerbahce midfielder Ozan Tufan in their game against Galatasaray on Saturday, that is according to a report from Turkish Football.
The Eagles aren’t the only Premier League club planning on watching the 24-year-old however, with the report suggesting that Everton will also have someone at the game.
According to the report, a source close to Fenerbahce has confirmed that Palace and the Toffees will have representatives at the Sukru Saracoglu stadium on Saturday having been given accreditation to attend.
It is suggested that the duo, along with other clubs across Europe, are interested in signing the Turkish international in the summer transfer window.
The player’s agent, Utku Cenikli, recently revealed that the midfielder has a €20 million (£16.7 million) release clause in his contract which will remain active until his current deal expires which, having recently agreed a new deal, is in 2023 (Turkish Football).
“Ozan has always wanted to play in Europe. He returned to Fenerbahce and felt he had a debt to pay. He wants to leave the club as a player who made Fenerbahce a return. And he does have a €20m release clause which will be his way of giving back,” said Cenikli (via Turkish Football).
On paper, it looks as though Tufan would be a solid signing for Crystal Palace and he would certainly bolster their options in the centre of midfield.
Despite only being 24-years-old he is already vastly experienced at international level, playing 49 times for Turkey and scoring five goals (Transfermarkt).
Added to that he has been a key player for Fenerbahce this term, starting in all 22 of their Super Lig games. His form has been very good of late too, indeed he has scored one goal and provided four assists in his last nine outings for the club (Transfermarkt).
He would certainly add a freshness to an ageing Eagles midfield, which currently features 32-year-old James McArthur, 30-year-old Cheikhou Kouyate and James McCarthy who turns 30 in November.
