Crystal Palace fan page PalaceEagles posted a video of former defender Damien Delaney’s farewell message to the club when he left and a lot of fans praised the player for his career at Selhurst Park.
The defender had a renaissance after signing for the south London side on a free from Ipswich in 2012, as per Transfermarkt. He was released by his former side when they deemed not good enough and then found himself crying at Wembley a year later after being a crucial player in helping the Eagles get promoted to England’s top flight, via The Daily Mail.
Overall at Palace, Delaney played 193 games for the club and even managed seven goals and 10 assists along the way. He became somewhat of a cult hero at the club, as he not only helped them get promoted but was also part of the defence which kept them in the Premier League at the first time of asking and is a huge reason as to why the club are still there today.
His message at Selhurst Park in front of the Palace faithful was a perfect send-off for the Irishman and there is no doubt he will be remembered by fans for many years to come.
