Many Palace fans on Twitter have called for the return of Martin Kelly after suggesting that he is better than James Tomkins.

Crystal Palace fan account @JontyCPFC tweeted his opinion that Kelly was better than Tomkins immediately after the Eagles slumped to a 2-0 defeat at home to Leicester before many other fans responded saying that they also agree.
James Tomkins played the full 90 minutes and wasn’t able to prevent keeping Leicester out; Martin Kelly had to spend the match watching from the bench.
While Tomkins featured far more often last season (with 29 games to Martin Kelly’s 13, per WhoScored), injuries have meant that Kelly has played more this campaign – and WhoScored’s algorithm suggests that fans are right to be missing the former Liverpool player.
According to their match rating system, Kelly has been the best out of all of Palace’s centre-halves this season, having a healthy average rating of 6.82/10 from six matches. Tomkins, on the other hand, has just a 6.2/10 from his three games played.
