A lot of Crystal Palace fans are saying that, if it were not for Mamadou Sakho’s multiple injuries throughout his time at the club, the centre-back would have been a star player at the club by now after an article by 90MAAT called him a ‘flop’.
The French centre-back has been at the club since the January transfer window in the 2016/17 season where he was initially only on a loan until the summer of 2017 where he signed permanently for the club from Liverpool for £25.38 million via Transfermarkt.
However, since he has been at the Eagles, Sakho has missed 378 days because of various injuries and due to this, he has struggled to consistently stay in the side.
When Sakho came in, he could have been seen as a different style of centre-back to the ones typically at Palace. Indeed, he was one of the more higher-profile signings and was the most Palace had ever spent for a defender. With that in mind, here’s a look at what some of the supporters were saying.
We discuss Sakho on this week’s review pod. This seems a very harsh article. His injury record is surely his only major issue? https://t.co/78e1l2sGnG

How can it be described as a flop – A very commanding player who’s able to pick a key pass from defence

Not a flop, because when he plays he is a top player for us. An expense we could do without? Yes. He misses too much time with injury and we just can’t afford to such expensive big hitters not available for ages, especially when it restricts further incomings

I would definitely not call him a flop, but we were aware of his injury problems before we bought him, Sahko isn’t the problem here.

Rubbish, he’s been great for us. He had an injury and we tried to bring him back too quickly, due to others being unfit.

We would not have him if he did not have a problem with injuries he would be at a top level side.

Terrible article. Sakho is a quality centre back unfortunately plagued by injury.
