Dutch fullback Patrick van Aanholt was voted as player of the month by the Crystal Palace faithful but some fans are still discussing whether he deserved the award.
After a brief injury spell, manager Roy Hodgson immediately brought Van Aanholt back into the Palace side, and he has been instrumental to Palace’s last few fixtures. He provided Selhurst Park with the only goal, a beautiful free-kick just before half-time in the 1-0 victory against Newcastle.
The left-back has always been a fan favourite and loves to interact with fans on Twitter. Even though he is a defender, Van Aanholt has provided a lot for Palace in the attacking third, scoring 14 goals in his 103 appearances at the club. (Transfermarkt)
With not a lot happening in attack at Crystal Palace right now, scoring just 25 goals this season in the league (the 2nd lowest), Van Aanholt’s contribution in attack could be vital, with one fan hailing him as ‘unreal’. (Sofascore)
