Many Crystal Palace on Twitter are absolutely furious with Christian Benteke’s contributions after he came on for Palace vs Wolves.
The Belgian attacker came on for Jordan Ayew on the 69th minute when Palace were 1-0 up, and when Romain Saiss got sent off for a second yellow card offence just a few minutes later, it looked like it could have been Palace’s day.
However, it wasn’t to be. And for Benteke, another game went by where he was unable to find the net and make an impact. In fact, the attacker looked mentally shaken; he looks a long way away from the player he was when he was originally at Aston Villa and even when he initially joined the Eagles. Indeed, Evening Standard reporter Jack Rosser even described the forward as a “broken man” in his report of the game.
While Palace were still 1-0 up, the attacker had a good chance to make it two when he was pretty much one-on-one with Rui Patricio, but his shot went straight at the Wolves keeper.
Not long afterwards, Jota was able to poke home at the back post to level the scores.
Upon the final whistle, Palace fans were absolutely seething, and many turned that anger straight to Benteke. Here are some of the responses below…
