Loads of Crystal Palace fans have been heaping praise on Jairo Riedewald after he picked up the club’s ManBetX Player of the Month award for January.
It has been quite the turnaround for the 23-year-old who has gone from fringe player to key defender this season. He has started six games in the Premier League, after not featuring at all last term, and is excelling.
In the 1-1 draw with Arsenal earlier this month, he made three successful tackles. No defender on either side managed to complete more (via WhoScored). It is no surprise that one supporter described him as an “accomplished player“.
Indeed, Riedewald has really stepped up in the absence of regular left-back Patrick van Aanholt, who has been struggling with injury. Up next for the Netherlands international is a home tie against Chris Wilder’s high-flying Sheffield United.
