Crystal Palace: Fans joke over new ‘Official Energy Drink partner’

Plenty of Crystal Palace fans have poked fun at the fact that Monster Energy has become its inaugural ‘Energy Drink partner’.

The club announced the partnership on Twitter, to which Palace fans responded in masses to either voice their own discontent at it, or make jokes about the sponsorship.

According to the club website, the brand which began in 2002 will now have its presence on the LED advertising boards which surround the Selhurst Park pitch during Premier League fixtures – which are, of course, shown all across the world.

Barry Webber, Commercial Director of Crystal Palace, said: “Monster Energy are a huge global brand and we believe them to be a good fit with our club – they pride themselves on being ‘all-action’, have insatiable levels of ambition and drive, and are committed to innovation within an extremely competitive market. They are an organisation who invest in an array of global sports and entertainment properties, and we are pleased to partner with them.”

It’s not necessarily the news Palace fans want to be hearing just a few days after getting torn apart 4-0 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

In fact, some creative fans even took this as an opportunity to have a dig at some of the performances over recent days, with one fan even suggesting that Patrick Van Aanholt has some of the drink so he can start tracking back for the Eagles.
