A number of Crystal Palace fans loved what they saw from Cheikhou Kouyate against Watford on Saturday afternoon and rushed to Twitter to share their positive reactions about his display.
Roy Hodgson’s side managed to overcome the Hertfordshire-based outfit at Selhurst Park with an effort from Jordan Ayew being enough to give them all three points and continue their impressive Premier League campaign in good form.
However, when taking a look at Twitter, it would appear Kouyate’s name was a constant amongst the fanbase when they were talking about who starred for them in the middle of the pitch, with one fan going as far to say he was a ‘box to box menace’ for them with another saying he had a ‘stormer’.
Indeed, his individual contributions appeared to back the notion that the 30-year-old had an ‘exceptional’ performance for the south London, with as many as two tackles, one interception, one clearance and blocking one Watford attempt showing how vital he was defensively (WhoScored).
It was not just in their own-third where Kouyate tried to influence proceedings, though, as he also had one of his own attempts at goal whilst also completing two dribbles as he earned a solid 7.16 match rating by WhoScored’s algorithm.
