Many Crystal Palace fans were surprised today when they saw the official Ajax Twitter account tweet about being at the club’s training ground.
The Dutch champions were having a training session in Beckenham before they jetted back to Amsterdam following their 4-4 thriller at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea.
Unsurprisingly, this cued many of the Palace support to make jokes about finding a way to keep some of their players – most notably two wingers in Hakim Ziyech and David Neres. Others even joked about keeping hands off Palace’s current crop of players, with one making a tongue in cheek joke about not touching Christian Benteke, who, of course, is not having the greatest of times this season.
Ziyech was in top form in SW6 as he grabbed two assists, but his loyalties must be wearing pretty thin after seeing the best training facilities that South London has to offer. That’s what Palace fans will like to be thinking, anyway.
