Many Crystal Palace fans are fuming with the performance of Andros Townsend during the Premier League match against Brighton on Monday night.
The game is always a big one for both teams, but it was also a huge match because of the position of the sides in the Premier League. Fulham’s win at the weekend meant that both sides were closer to the relegation zone than they would want to be (SofaScore).
However, Palace managed to win the match in crazy circumstances as they scored their two goals whilst only having three shots in the match, with the Seagulls boasting 25 attempts in total (SofaScore).
Townsend picked up an assist in the dying embers of the match due to a phenomenal finish from Christian Benteke, but the Eagles fan base was still infuriated by his performance throughout the 90 minutes. He only completed 53% of his passes, managing just eight successful passes in total and he also lost possession eleven times (SofaScore). The assist was the only chance he created in the game.
With the victory, the Eagles can now be a lot more confident that they will not get dragged into the relegation battle as they are now ten points clear, but that didn’t stop fans ripping into the winger’s display.
