Many Crystal Palace are fuming with the officials after they sent off Christian Benteke in the 1-1 draw against London Rivals West Ham.
The striker scored for the Eagles, and it meant he has now scored three goals in his last three games (Transfermarkt). However he received two yellow cards during the match when going up for headers. The referee David Coote believed that the Belgian was leading with his arms and believed it to be dangerous play.
Manager Roy Hodgson said that the the decisions against Benteke were “ludicrous” and that such calls are “ruining the game of football”, whilst one fan down below said it was ‘ridiculous’.
Despite his anger at the decision, Hodgson will be happy to see that the South London side managed to hold on for the draw.
It will be very frustrating to see the forward be suspended though, as he has linked up very well with Wilfried Zaha and Eberechi Eze lately, and him being unavailable to face reigning champions Liverpool will be a big blow.
