The Ivorian winger, 26, was brought down in the box by Calum Chambers and was instantly given a yellow card for simulation. The decision was then checked by VAR and the decision got overturned, meaning that Zaha had his yellow card rescinded and the Eagles won a penalty. Unsurprisingly, Luke Milivojevic made no mistake from the spot and scored.
Palace were already 2-0 down at this point and it proved to be the turning point in the match.
Jordan Ayew completed the comeback in the second half after he nodded home an inch-perfect cross from James McArthur.
After the initial penalty decision was overturned, the Palace account took to Twitter to confirm the decision made by the referees and VAR, to which many Palace fans responded.
Some fans suggested there was an ‘agenda’ against their star man, while others just spoke about how much they loved VAR.
Here are some of the responses from fans…
The Wilf diving agenda in full flow today. Embarrassing for the ref.
