A lot of Crystal Palace fans are getting excited after Dominic Fifield, who is a journalist for The Athletic, gave a very positive update on the club’s chances of signing defender Nathan Ferguson on Twitter.
Fans of the South London side have had various ups and downs about whether the player will sign for the club or not after a failed deadline day transfer move due to Palace’s medical team finding out the Englishman had an injury, via The Athletic.
However it seems now the player is all but certain to sign a contract with the Eagles in the summer when his current one with West Bromwich Albion expires after getting the surgery he needed to fix his knee, and fans are excited with one tweeting, ‘excellent excellent news.’
This will be a good move for Roy Hodgson, as he only has one natural right-back currently in the squad. Whilst Joel Ward has put in consistent performances this season, he needs some competition and the 19 year-old Baggies right-back, per Transfermarkt, would not only bring this but also be a great signing for Palace’s future too as Ward is 30 years-old, via Transfermarkt.
Here is how Palace fans reacted following the positive update:
Nathan Ferguson still expected to move from #WBA to #CPFC – a deal scuppered by a knee injury in Jan – and, despite FIFA's recommendations on play contracts, there is scope for it to be completed on 1 July.
Compensation would be determined by a tribunal.https://t.co/gU0BxGa9Ek

Brilliant. This is what I thought would happen. Was gutted when it fell through but knew we’d wrap it up. https://t.co/VhqyT5Gsgj
