Crystal Palace: Fans react to Hodgson’s comments following Premier League win

Many Crystal Palace fans are reacting to the latest comments from manager Roy Hodgson following the South London side’s huge win against Brighton on Monday night.

Before the match, the manager was facing a fair amount of pressure from supporters as the Eagles’ form recently has been far from impressive. In the past, Hodgson’s sides were typically known for their organisation and solidity at the back, but there have been no sign of these qualities during the current campaign – before the Brighton match, they had only managed four clean sheets and had won just three games out of the last fourteen.

The game arguably could have gone against Palace, as the Eagles only had three shots, whilst Brighton had 25 (SofaScore).  Christian Benteke’s 95th minute winner meant that the club scored with both of their shots on target.

This led many to call it a smash-and-grab, to which Hodgson replied, via @cpfc_xtra, “I’m not going to apologise for coming away with what we consider to be a very good victory.”

Needless to say, not all of the Selhurst faithful were impressed with the manager’s remarks, lambasting his style of play on Twitter.

Here is how fans reacted to the news:

“Does he know we are playing some of the worst football I’ve seen in a long time. Thank good for 2 amazing goals from all if our 2 shots on target last night.”

“This is the downside of the victory. He thinks it vindicates his godawful tactics.”
