Crystal Palace: Fans react to Matt Woosman tweet about Cenk Tosun injury

A lot of Crystal Palace fans have expressed their disappointment after an article from the Athletic’s Matt Woosman has reported that current loanee Cenk Tosun could miss the rest of the season with a serious knee injury.

The Turkish striker, who is on loan from Everton, has played 5 times for Palace since the move in January, scoring once away at the Etihad in a 2-2 with Manchester City. (Transfermarkt)

Indeed, Tosun reportedly made the move to South London from Merseyside because he wanted to play more football so that he would be fully fit to play for Turkey at the European Championships this summer. However, the knee injury means that he could miss the rest of the Premier League season and the international tournament.

Tosun was also injured in late January when he picked up a hamstring injury in the Eagles defeat to Southampton, as per the Mail Online, so it’s not exactly been an overly successful switch. Worryingly, the injury now leaves the South London club with only two natural strikers at the club and, while Jordan Ayew and Christian Benteke have been keeping Tosun out of the side, it now leaves Roy Hodgson with no strikers on his bench.
