Many Crystal Palace fans have responded on Twitter to surprising claims that the club are considering a swap deal to sign Fabio Borini.
According to reports from Italian outlet Calciomercato (via Sport Witness), Roy Hodgson’s side could be set to give up Christian Benteke and Max Meyer for the services of the Italian.
Given that the German and the Belgian allegedly (Spotrac) earn £125k-per-week and £120k-per-week respectively, this would be a massive deal which would see a huge chunk come off the wage bill.
Neither of the players have started a league game since the second game of the season, and with both occupying so much of the wage bill, the Eagles might be trying to free up some cash to try and bring other players in.
Even still, the Milan forward has been frozen out of the club – playing just two matches this campaign – so it would come as a huge shock to see two of Palace’s biggest names walk out the door for a player who has barely played this season in Serie A.
Lots of fans were shocked by the rumour, including one who claimed he would microwave his season ticket if it did come off.

If this has even the slightest element of truth to it our whole recruitment team should be sacked…. And possibly sectioned.
