Crystal Palace: Fans reminisce as club posts tweet of Andros Townsend’s goal in 2017

Crystal Palace fans are enjoying rewatching Andros Townsend’s goal which he scored in a 2-0 victory against West Brom back on this day in 2017.

Wilfried Zaha had opened the scoring early on in the second half with Townsend sealing the victory with a fabulous solo run in the 84th minute. The winger ran an astonishing 76 metres before fooling the defender with some stepovers and slotting the ball into the back of the net. Indeed, it was the longest a player has travelled with the ball before scoring since the start of the 2012/13 season, via Opta Joe.

Townsend has scored 12 goals since joining the Eagles and contributed with 20 assists but has had to accept being a substitute since he returned from injury due to the form of Jordan Ayew, who is currently playing where Townsend typically would.

The English winger has scored a few spectacular goals during his career, including last years goal of the season, where Townsend smashed home a volley in a 3-2 victory against the current Champions at the Etihad and, after he took to Twitter to talk about his goal, plenty of fans reacted.
