Many Crystal Palace fans have jumped on Twitter to express their appreciation for goalkeeper Vicente Guaita.
It’s not been the worst of starts for Palace, however, with a pretty underwhelming transfer window and a key player in Wilfried Zaha not really wanting to be at the club, you can argue there is still a sense of pessimism around SE25.
Zaha obviously failed in his attempts to make a bigger move elsewhere, while Palace also could not replace key players (Transfermarkt) from last season in the right-back and striker positions in Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Michy Batshuayi.
More positively, there is one position that Palace fans can certainly relax about – and that’s between the sticks.
Hodgson decided to ease Guaita into the first-team fold last season, but now there is no doubt about the number one jersey – he has started every game this season, with an average of 6.52 according to WhoScored’s algorithm, and has only conceded seven in his first six.
After the Crystal Palace Twitter account posted a video of the ‘keeper pulling off a fantastic close-range effort from Matt Doherty, fans couldn’t resist but share their love for the former Getafe man.
