Crystal Palace blew a 1-0 lead against Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday, and some fans are pinning the blame on one man.
After James Tomkins had given Roy Hodgson’s side the lead, Danny Ings managed to equalise to make the score 1-1 thanks to a poor back-pass from Martin Kelly, which has not gone unnoticed.
Overall, it was not the most convincing of displays by the 29-year-old. He was given a 6.0 match rating by WhoScored and only managed to win three out of the seven tackles he attempted on the day.
To put things into perspective, no Palace player recorded a lower match rating, showing just how lacklustre Kelly was during the encounter at St. Mary’s.
The English defender will at least have the chance to quickly bounce back, though, when the Eagles take on Norwich City on New Year’s Day.
