Loads of Crystal Palace fans have been left venting following Gary Cahill’s comments on the club’s recent 3-1 defeat to Everton.
Goals from Bernard, Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin at Goodison Park downed the Eagles, and Cahill has since come out to criticise the side’s defensive display on the day. “Defensively the goals were disappointing, the goals were sloppy and we’re not normally like that,” the 34-year-old was quoted as saying by the club’s official website.
“That was not good enough defensively for a couple of incidents,” he added. All things considered, Cahill has arguably made some good points. Usually, Roy Hodgson’s men are quite solid. Even after that 3-1 loss, they remain in the top six for least goals conceded with 32 (via WhoScored).

Meanwhile, away from home, they are in the top 10 with 19 goals conceded, showing that they have been strong at the back for the majority of the campaign. Despite this, some Palace fans have been unwilling to let such a defeat slide, taking to Twitter to react in a furious manner to Cahill’s take.
