A lot of Crystal Palace fans have one former player’s name on their lips following a post from a fan page on Twitter.
Five Year Plan asked: “If you could’ve signed one ex-loan player, to sign for Palace permanently, who would it have been?” and fans of the South London side have flocked to the tweet to express their love for Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
The Englishman enjoyed a loan spell at the Eagles from Chelsea in the 2017/18 season, per Transfermarkt, playing 24 times, scoring two goals and contributing with four assists. It is easy to see why Palace fans loved the player as his performances in the campaign were good enough to see him selected for Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
The 24-year-old midfielder is now back at Chelsea, but has missed the whole 2019/20 campaign due to an Achilles tendon rupture.
Hopefully when football resumes the player will be able to show his club what he can do, but if not it seems he always has the Palace faithful to return to.
Here is what fans had to say following the tweet:
Some of these guys have come up on recent pods so here goes…
