Many Crystal Palace fans have responded on Twitter to the news of two new contracts at the club.
The club Twitter account posted earlier this afternoon, revealing that James Tomkins and Christian Benteke have both signed extensions on their current deals.
Tomkins has signed an extension on his deal which will see him stay until the end of the 2021/22 season, while Benteke has been lengthened by a year, meaning that he is contracted until the end of the 2020/21 season.
The response from Palace fans on Twitter was mostly one of shock – especially towards Christian Benteke.
The Belgian striker has found it incredibly hard of late and has not started since the second game of the season after Palace lost 1-0 away to Sheffield United.
In his time at Palace, he has amounted 98 appearances to just 21 goals, however, 17 of them came in his first season at the club, meaning he has scored just four times in over two seasons at the club.
