Strasbourg striker Ludovic Ajorque is a deadline day target for Crystal Palace, according to Pete O’Rourke.

The Lowdown: Ajorque profiled

Ajorque, hailed a “complete player” by Julian Stephan, is 28 years of age and has been with Strasbourg since 2018.

The 6 foot 4 centre-forward has scored 81 goals during his career, hitting double figures in Ligue 1 during each of the past two seasons.

The Frenchman is under contract until 2024 and is valued at £14.4m by Transfermarkt, and it looks as if Palace are keen on Ajorque’s services.

The Latest: Palace keen

According to O’Rourke, Palace are one of three Premier League sides eyeing a late move for Ajorque.

The journalist said earlier today that Nottingham Forest are making a ‘last-gasp offer’ for the forward, with the Eagles and West Ham also keen.

The Verdict: Benteke replacement?

Palace lost Christian Benteke last month, with the Belgian joining Wayne Rooney’s DC United. That has left Patrick Vieira with one less centre-forward option, with no senior attacking signings made so far this summer.

Therefore, bringing in Ajorque late on deadline day could be a shrewd move following his impressive displays in France over the last two years, but Steve Parish and Dougie Freedman will need to act fast.
