Crystal Palace have reportedly made another bid for Peterborough defender Ronnie Edwards, who is also wanted by Tottenham.

The Lowdown: Edwards profiled

Edwards is an out-and-out centre-back who made the move to Peterborough from Barnet in 2020 [Transfermarkt]. Since then, the 19-year-old has made 49 senior appearances for the Posh and has also featured for England at under-19 level.

Peterborough director Barry Fry has branded Edwards a 'Rolls Royce' with 'unbelievably accurate' passing, and it looks as if a move to Selhurst Park could be on the cards.

The Latest: Second bid

According to journalist Charlie Parker-Turner, Palace have made a second offer for Edwards.

The Eagles have tabled a bid worth an initial £4m with a further £4m in add-ons, with talks ongoing.

The Verdict: Shrewd signing

Edwards has also been on the radar of Palace's London rivals Spurs and Chelsea, so securing a late move for him could be a brilliant piece of prospective business from the Eagles in the long run.

He appears to be a future star who already has experience in the Football League, something which could prove crucial in his development.

Patrick Vieira currently has five centre-back options, so it will be interesting to see if Palace would be open to the idea of allowing the player to remain with Peterborough for the rest of the season, should an agreement be reached.
