Many Crystal Palace fans are over the moon following a report from The Athletic which suggests that Jairo Riedewald is set to sign a new deal at the club.
The Dutch midfielder’s signing is arguably the only good thing to come from Frank de Boer’s short reign in charge of the South London side, although it hasn’t been the easiest journey for the 24-year-old as he has only made 44 appearances since his arrival in 2017.
His quality is starting to show, nearly four years after his arrival. Fans have seen how good he is in multiple positions as he picked up a Player of the Month award last season for his performances at left-back and also last month for his performances in central midfield.
Following this update being posted on Twitter, one fan summed up the feeling of many by calling it ‘excellent news’. The new contract is a well-deserved reward for his dedication to the club and for his attitude after he waited so long to be given a consistent role in the team.
