A lot of Palace fans are excited as winger Andros Townsend has signed himself up to be in a FIFA draw hosted by League Two side Leyton Orient.
Since fixtures across the Football Leagues have been postponed, club football accounts on Twitter have been having to find very different content than usual, and the East London outfit have decided to set up a FIFA tournament in the hope 64 teams commit for it.
Townsend has had a hard season, playing 15 times and only scoring once and he hasn’t played a full 90 minutes in the Premier League since December 2019 (per WhoScored), largely coming off the bench for Roy Hodgson. Still, given the fact that only two players (Jordan Ayew and Wilfried Zaha) average more than his 1.7 dribbles per game, it’s clear he can bring an added attacking impetus when he is on the pitch.
Famously, he scored the Goal of the Season last year with his fantastic volley against Manchester City in a great 3-2 victory at the Etihad and, hopefully, he will be able to create goals of that quality both when the season starts again and in the FIFA tournament he participates in.
