There has been an update surrounding the redevelopment of Selhurst Park and it has caused a lot of mixed reaction from the Crystal Palace fan base.
According to The Athletic, via CPFC NEWS HQ, both the club and Croydon Council look to have made progress over recent weeks in their negotiations over the redevelopment.
Fans are not best pleased over these plans, as it was first announced in December 2017 by Chairman Steve Parish, via Crystal Palace, with hopes of starting in the summer of 2018, however two and a half years on and the club are nowhere nearer than when they started. In fact it could be argued they have taken a few steps back as they have struggled to overcome numerous hurdles due to the location of Selhurst Park.
For now, the Palace faithful will still have their old school stadium, and even know there has been an update, it doesn’t seem to have pushed the actual reconstruction to start any time soon.
It is worth wondering whether the new stadium would be beneficial, as we have seen teams like West Ham struggle to create an atmosphere and have the same fear factor that they had at Upton Park.
