Crystal Palace announced on Wednesday that young striker Victor Akinwale has signed his first professional contract with the club.

And, as to be expected, a number of Eagles supporters have been giving their thoughts to the news on social media.

Akinwale, who recently turned 17, has been with the club since the age of 12.

The centre-forward has made 30 appearances for the club’s youth sides since the beginning of the 2020/21 campaign, scoring 10 times and registering three assists.

He has now followed in the footsteps of youngsters such as David Omilabu and Jesurun Rak-Sakyi in penning a first Selhurst Park deal.

Palace are looking to add two forwards to Patrick Vieira’s first-team squad before the end of the window, but it looks like they have now tied down a potential future first-team striker in Akinwale.

Palace fans react

Palace posted the news regarding Akinwale’s deal on their official Twitter page. These Eagles fans were all delighted, with one labelling the teenager a ‘baller’.
