Crystal Palace are lining up a move for former Arsenal midfielder Dani Ceballos, according to reports in Spain.

The Lowdown: Ceballos profiled

The 25-year-old is primarily a central midfielder who can play in an attacking midfield role and on the left.

He spent two seasons on loan at the Emirates Stadium, making 77 appearances for the Gunners, and he is now back with Real Madrid.

Ceballos has made just six appearances for his parent club in 2021/22 and is into the final 18 months of his Bernabeu contract, with Palace now seemingly keen on bringing him back to London.

The Latest: Eagles interest in Ceballos

According to reports in Spain, as relayed by Sport Witness, Palace are ‘interested in acquiring’ Ceballos' services.

The report added that Palace ‘would seek to offer’ €18m (£15m) and possibly more, making it a bid that Real Madrid cannot turn down.

The Verdict: Gallagher replacement?

Conor Gallagher has starred in midfield at Selhurst Park this season, but he is set to return to Chelsea in the summer following his loan spell.

Therefore, Patrick Vieira could already be looking at possible replacements for the 22-year-old, with Ceballos, labelled a 'special' player by former Arsenal man Michael Thomas, possibly one of those.

Even though the Spaniard contributed to just seven goals for the Gunners in 77 games, he now has experience of the Premier League. He could thrive playing regularly under Vieira, and it seems as if Steve Parish and the Eagles are extremely keen on bringing him back to England.
