‘Definite upgrade’ - Some Liverpool fans have been calling for this left-field transfer

The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have been urging their club to fork out some cash to bring in Leicester City and Denmark ‘keeper, Kasper Schmeichel. The 31-year-old shot-stopper was in excellent form last night for his nation, saving three penalties against Croatia before ultimately coming up short in a thrilling round-of-sixteen tie.

Schmeichel did not deserve to be on the losing side there. I’d have him this summer – I think he’s an upgrade on what we have.

However, the Dane’s efforts did not go unnoticed and the Kopites keeping our bar afloat saw something in Schmeichel that they would be keen to see at Liverpool. Whilst it would be a tricky deal to complete, with Schmeichel’s dad being a Manchester United legend, it’s a deal that would be a huge boost for the Anfield faithful. Neither Simon Mignolet or Loris Karius are good enough and the Leicester stopper would be perfect.

Kasper Schmeichel will be making an early return to the King Power Stadium and pre-season training after yesterday’s bitterly disappointing result against a stern Croatia, but ultimately the better side won the match and Schmeichel and co can be proud of their achievements. This summer could be a big one for the Jurgen Klopp’s Reds, the club are still actively looking for a new ‘keeper and the man they need could be a lot closer to home, just 120 miles down the M6.
