Derby County: Holmes news enrages fans

derby fans react to takeover news

Lots of Derby County fans have been replying to a tweet from The Athletic’s Derby correspondent Ryan Conway which shared the news that Duane Holmes has completed his move from Pride Park to the Rams’ Championship rivals Huddersfield Town.

Per Conway, Holmes has signed a three-and-a-half-year contract at The John Smith’s Stadium.

Additionally, the journalist shared that the Rams will receive no transfer fee upfront for the 26-year-old before explaining that this means Holmes is leaving Pride Park on what is ‘essentially a free transfer.’

So, how have these Derby County fans been reacting to this news?

This news drew a negative reaction from many fans of the East Midlands club, with plenty of Rams fans baffled as to why their club would allow the £2.25m-rated man to leave on ‘essentially a free transfer.’

“Derby way, who deals with our transfers at the club as they are absolutely terrible?”
