Derby County: Nixon drops takeover claim

derby fans react to takeover news

The Sun’s Alan Nixon has taken to Twitter to drop a worrying four-word takeover claim about Derby County.

The journalist issued this claim after he was sent a tweet by one particular Rams fan who asked him for his thoughts on Sheikh Khaled bin Saquer Zayed Al Nehayan‘s pending takeover of the East Midlands club.

What did Nixon have to say about the Derby County takeover?

Nixon quote-tweeted that Derby supporter’s post and declared that the takeover has been ‘pending far too long,’ indicating that he feels the length of time it is taking for this deal to reach completion is not normal and that some concern may be warranted amongst Derby fans, with current owner Mel Morris having been trying to sell the club for over a year now.

The latest false promise in the Derby takeover saga

Some concern may also be understandable amongst members of the Pride Park faithful given that the takeover is yet to be completed despite it having been reported by the BBC that the deal was ‘expected’ to finally reach completion last week.

This isn’t the first time that this takeover has failed to meet an expected deadline, as the club had previously claimed that this takeover, which received the EFL’s approval in early-November, would be done by Christmas.

Perhaps the fact that Sheikh Khaled’s Rams takeover has once again failed to meet its expected date of completion will lead to more questions being asked as to whether or not the deal is actually going to go through at all.

The fact that the would-be Derby buyer has failed in attempted takeovers of both Liverpool and Newcastle United in the past will surely not ease any Rams fans’ concerns.

In other news, some Derby County fans were buzzing to see Jason Knight captaining their team at the weekend.
