Derby County have a strong youth set-up at the moment and the latest reminder of that came our way yesterday evening as they strolled to a 7-1 victory over Leeds United’s U23 side.
The Rams and the Whites at a senior level have seen tensions rise in recent times owing to what happened last season but at the lower levels there’s probably not as much animosity.
Even so, the players want to win every game but it was the young Rams side that did the business, with forward Louie Sibley scoring a hat-trick to continue his impressive rise through the ranks.
Certainly, there’s plenty going for him at the moment and, at a club where youth gets a chance, it might not be so long until we see him in the Derby first team.
He posted a message after his goal-scoring feat last night, and fans reacted to that in numbers on Twitter:
Loved it when Will Hughes burst onto the scene, time for you to do the same
