Derby County will be looking ahead to their League Cup meeting with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge at the end of the month.

The Rams will be full of confidence after defeating Manchester United in the previous round of the competition, setting up a return for manager Frank Lampard.

The Chelsea legend will be excited about putting his side up against his former club and he will have been boosted with some of the latest news that has started to emerge.

According to a report by Sky Sports, the Premier League outfit have allowed both Mason Mount and Fikayo Tomori to play against them in the competition.

Both have been excelling whilst on loan at Derby this season under Lampard and are believed to be of the opinion that they could benefit from playing against top-level opposition once again.

Rules do not usually permit players to play against their parent clubs, however, the League Cup allows agreements to be made between the two teams.

The Verdict:

Derby will be delighted to hear that Chelsea will allow both Tomori and Mount to feature against them at Stamford Bridge.

Both have been outstanding for the Rams this season and have put in a number of impressive performances that will likely make the hierarchy at the Blues take note.

Mount could prove to be a threat as he has five goals across all competitions so far, whilst Tomori has helped the backline to keep five clean sheets as well.
