The Manchester United fans here in the Transfer Tavern were absolutely delighted to watch their side return to winning ways against Everton and kick 2018 off with a bang. Indeed, after a difficult run of late, Jose Mourinho’s men looked back to their best last night.
In fact, the manner of their victory at Goodison Park was made even better when you consider the fact they did so without a natural central striker. With both Romelu Lukaku and Zlatan Ibrahimovic out injured, Mourinho fielded a far more fluid front line on Merseyside as Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial bagged stunners to down the Toffees.
With the duo impressing our resident Red Devils yesterday, some of our punters are even joking that United are BETTER without Lukaku. The Belgian, despite a good start to life on the club’s books, has endured a lot of criticism this season and his absence yesterday was not at all missed.
