Even a round of fine Transfer Tavern ale can’t cure the woes of our Arsenal punters, fretting over news that yet another player could be heading for the Emirates exit door this summer.
That’s according to The Times, who claim goalkeeper David Ospina is eager to leave the club during the next transfer window, having become unhappy with his status as a ‘cup specialist’ in north London – with Petr Cech still Arsene Wenger’s first choice for Premier League fixtures.
It’s added that the Colombian international’s ‘disenchantment‘ first surfaced when Cech joined the club in summer 2015, having been purchased a year prior under the proviso that he’d be challenging Wojciech Szczesny for the No.1 jersey.
However, Ospina isn’t the only Arsenal player whose time with the club appears to be coming to an end. Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez’s contract sagas continue to rumble on, whilst English trio Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Jack Wilshere and Kieran Gibbs are yet to have their deals renewed before the end of next season.
Coupled with Arsene Wenger’s uncertain future, there could well be a whole host of departures at Arsenal before the start of next season. Meanwhile, Ospina is expected to start in the Champions League tonight against Bayern Munich.
