Arsenal fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern have been alerted to some news filtering in from the official Arsenal website.
The north London club have confirmed that they have secured a deal for goalkeeper Joao Virginia, with the 17-year-old signing his first professional contract at the Emirates Stadium.
Our landlord has done some reading up on the young keeper, and admits he is certainly a player to keep your eyes on.
The Portuguese stopper was involved in the Portugal setup at the Olympics in Brazil over the summer, and has been a regular in the Portugal youth squads during his career.
The resident Arsenal fans by the jukebox here in the Transfer Tavern think this is excellent news, and have sizeable hopes for the man from Portugal.
As our landlord quips, if he is involved with the Portugal squad for the Olympics at the tender age of just 17, he must have something about him!
