Middlesbrough fans in the Transfer Tavern are toasting a round of commemorative ale, already resigned to Ben Gibson leaving the club at the end of the season.
The 24-year-old has been crucial for the relegation-threatened Riverside Stadium outfit this season, playing every minute of their Premier League campaign to help Aitor Karanka’s side claim the best defensive record in the bottom half of the table.
But the Englishman’s performances have inevitably gained attention from some of the division’s bigger clubs and earlier today, London Evening Standard reported on Arsenal and West Ham’s interest in the £30million-rated centre-half.
Needless to say, Boro fans on Twitter are already preparing for the inevitable…

But they’re not the only clubs linked with the prodigious defender, with The Sun recently billing him as a £25million transfer target for Manchester City, who have struggled at the back this season in the absence of their captain Vincent Kompany.
