Drop them: Caixinha must axe these 2 players from today’s starting Rangers XI against Celtic

Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha will be hoping to get one over on local rivals Celtic this week after suffering defeat in the Scottish Cup semi-final last weekend.

The Spaniard will be looking to to his players to get what would be a morale boosting end of season victory, and the Gers fans here in the Transfer Tavern have been in a positive mood this week heading into the local derby.

Our landlord has been having a good chat with the Gers fans over at the pool table, and despite the defeat last time out, they have drawn confidence from the 1-1 draw with Celtic in the league game a few months back.

This week represents another chance for Rangers to get one over on the Bhoys, but manager Caixinha will know he needs to get his team selection right.

With this in mind, here are TWO Rangers players who could be dropped from today’s starting XI…

Joe Garner

Replaced at half time in the semi final last week, it could well be the bench from the off this time for the former Preston man.

Garner has not produced the form he showed in England quite as often as he would have liked at Ibrox, and being dropped for the Glasgow derby would be a further dent to his confidence.

Andy Halliday

Another player who was replaced at half time last time out, Halliday could well join Garner in sitting on the bench this weekend.

The likes of Josh Windass are waiting in the wings for a chance, and Caixinha could well opt to shift Halliday out of his starting line-up this weekend in what promises to be another feisty encounter.
