Chelsea fans react to Dusan Vlahovic transfer news

Stadio Arechi, Salerno, Italy - February 7, 2023. Juventus' Dusan Vlahovic scores their first goal.

Chelsea fans have been reacting to the latest speculation linking them with a move for Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic.

The Lowdown: Potter’s admiration

Graham Potter is reportedly looking to sign a new centre-forward this summer with the future of Romelu Lukaku uncertain and has identified the 23-year-old as someone he wants to bring to the Premier League.

According to CBS journalist Ben Jacobs, the Serbian is attracting interest from the Blues and Manchester United ahead of the upcoming window with a move elsewhere a likely possibility.

The Stamford Bridge outfit made contact with his agent in December and it’s claimed that the boss is a big fan of his target, with the same reporter saying:

“Vlahovic, for me, is still one to watch from Chelsea’s point of view, and that’s because I think there’s a real opportunity to prise him away from Juventus, especially given their circumstances at the moment.

“He’s not been particularly happy playing under Max Allegri, and Graham Potter really likes Vlahovic as well.”

The Latest: Chelsea fans react…

Taking to Twitter, Chelsea lovers delivered their opinion on Vlahovic potentially making the switch to SW6. They said:

“WHAT this has to be a joke.” – @twrIdd

“We can do way better.”’ – @CFCshq

”Terrible idea, not even better than Tammy.” – @Billy_LDN_

“Why? He’s horrendous.” – @CarefreeJoe99

“If a player is about to leave a club so quickly I wonder what it says.” – @Ronak_Kamat

“Even Juventus fans want Vlahovic out he is so mid.” – @CFC_Gab

“We’re getting the wrong Striker from Serie A again.” – @CFCboyvit

“Would rather Osimhen he’s a Chelsea fan. He’s played in the Ligue 1 as well.” – @ss_cfc1999

The Verdict: Risk worth taking

Vlahovic doesn’t sound like a popular option among supporters, but looking at his return, he would be the perfect man to come in and fill that natural centre-forward role that Chelsea have been missing.

The Juventus talisman has clocked up 107 goal contributions (91 goals and 16 assists) in 204 career appearances, showing how prolific he can be in the final third when regularly given a chance.

Standing at 6 foot 2, he would provide an aerial threat and be an ideal target up top offering a different dimension to what the manager already has at his disposal.

Vlahovic also only being 23 years of age means that he would be viewed as a signing for the long-term future of the club which is exactly the kind of stability the hierarchy need to start building.
