€16M Will Secure Sir Alex’s New VDS & This Guy Is Class

Sir Alex Ferguson is apparently interested in Bayern Leverkusen’s highly rated goalkeeper, Rene Adler, as a replacement for Edwin Van Der Sar. The big Dutchman has announced his decision to retire at the end of the season, and Fergie will be keen to avoid the debacle he faced when Peter Schmeichel departed the club for Sporting Lisbon in 1999.

January was a quiet month for Sir Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United. Whilst the rest of their rivals went on a spending spree that would make King Midas’ blush, Old Trafford remained strangely quiet. But Ferguson knows he’ll need to recruit in Summer, and a goalkeeper is surely top of the shopping list.

Adler is a German international, with 10 caps for the national side, and it’s expected that United will have to offer at least £14 million for him (that’s 16 million Euros, to anyone reading in Leipzig!) Other names included on the prospective shortlist include Adler’s fellow countryman Manuel Neur and Holland keeper Maarten Stekelenburg.

After spending alot of time, and money, trying to find a natural successor to Schmeichel, the Red Devils will be hoping they can fill the tall, spindly gap left by Van Der Sar as soon as possible!

I'm a 23 year old Newcastle United fan, who enjoys watching and playing football, listening to music, watching movies and reading. Actually, none of that's very exciting is it? Erm...I also ran across America, won the Congressional Medal of Honour, have been to the White House 3 times, taught Elvis to dance and helped John Lennon write Imagine. My motto is, 'Life is like a box of chocolates...' no, sorry that's Forrest Gump....
