Though Harry Kane’s injury will undoubtedly serve as a major blow to the Tottenham Hotspur fans in the Transfer Tavern, they are in a better position to deal with it this season.
The England international is symbolic of the rise at White Hart Lane in recent seasons and is the poster boy to their ongoing project.
Still, the summer signing of Vincent Janssen represents the first time Mauricio Pochettino has had a genuine ready-made replacement for the 23-year-old since his emergence.
Having impressed for AZ Alkmaar, the Dutchman will now be tasked with spearheading Spurs’ varied frontline and he certainly has big boots to fill.
Arrivals from the Eredivisie have made mixed impacts in the Premier League, though considering the club’s chase of the Oranje international, they must have a lot of faith in the 22-year-old.
Whether he turns out to be a Ruud van Nistelrooy or a Ricky van Wolfswinkel remains to be seen, though Spurs fans on Twitter are heaping pressure on his arrival.
Included are SEVEN of the best.
Baptism of Fire
Funny i was saying Janssen puts way too much pressure on himself and to relax a bit and now he’s got it in abundance! #KeepTheFaith #COYS

Not so able
We will struggle a bit with Kane out, Janssen is far from his level. #COYS #THFC

Back to square one
As much as we want Janssen to get going. If Kane is out long term, he cant start on Wednesday. He’s now what Kane was to us last year! #coys
