Emery rebuild looks to continue at Arsenal with potential deal for Wilshere replacement hinted at

Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern will be delighted with the work that Unai Emery has already been able to produce since arriving at the Emirates Stadium.

The new Gunners boss has already been hugely active in the transfer window this summer and could be about to add another name to his impressive recruitment drive.

Sampdoria’s Lucas Torriera has been linked with a move to North London for a while and it appears that he could be about to head to the Emirates Stadium after the Serie A outfit’s owner revealed on Italian TV that a deal had practically been done.

Massimo Ferrero was conducting an interview with SportItalia and confirmed that the 22-year-old was on his way to the Premier League for a fee of 30million euros (£26m).

“Sampdoria do not sell unless there are excellent offers,” he stated on SportItalia.

“We do not look for buyers. We have natural talents whose values increase exponentially.

“Sampdoria is a stepping stone. It’s a family-run club and that allows players to grow up. It’s normal they have aspirations to play for big clubs, but I do not need to sell out.

“Torreira has left for 30million euros. I bought him from Pescara when no one believed.

“We bet and we won, paying just 3million euros. The money that comes in is used to keep the club going.”

Landlord’s Verdict

Despite Ferrero not commenting where he will be heading, Torriera looks to be heading to Arsenal following the Gunners announcing that Jack Wilshere will be departing from the Emirates Stadium. The 22-year-old has been seen as one of Emery’s ideal targets this summer and he will be able to add a defensive side to their team, something many of the locals have felt the club have needed for a while.
