Everton agree terms with “unique” England international

Everton are building for a new era under David Moyes, and their summer business is already making headlines.

The Toffees ended the 2024/25 Premier League season on a high following Moyes’ January return, losing just four of their final 18 matches. That impressive turnaround not only secured their top-flight status but also boosted morale ahead of their historic move to the new 52,888-capacity Everton Stadium this summer.

With renewed optimism, Moyes is targeting reinforcements — and Manchester City appears to be his hunting ground.

According to Football Insider, Everton and Newcastle United are the frontrunners to sign Jack Grealish, with the England international keen to leave the Etihad in search of regular first-team football. Grealish started only 16 games across all competitions last season and hopes a move can help reignite his form and reclaim a spot in the national team setup.

However, it’s not just Grealish on Everton’s radar. The Toffees have reportedly agreed terms with Grealish’s City and England teammate Kyle Walker.

The 35-year-old full-back spent the second half of last season on loan at AC Milan, who have opted not to make the deal permanent. Despite previously expressing a desire to finish his career abroad, The Sun reports that Walker will now remain in the Premier League, with Everton securing a verbal agreement.

Talks are now ongoing between Everton and Manchester City to determine whether the move will be a permanent transfer or a short-term loan to cover the final year of his contract. Fulham were also interested but couldn’t match the financial terms offered by the Toffees.

Walker’s experience would provide a significant boost to Moyes’ defence. Despite his age, the England international has remained a consistent performer at the highest level and is still regarded as one of the Premier League’s top right-backs. Pep Guardiola famously described him as a “unique” talent — and few would argue.

As Everton prepare to open a new chapter in their history, the potential arrivals of Grealish and Walker could signal serious ambition from a club looking to re-establish itself among the Premier League’s elite.
