Everton fans on Twitter cannot believe how poor their first half showing was

This season has been a real up and down one for Everton, hasn’t it? The Toffees have been a really strange side, with fluctuating form and inconsistent performances from pretty much every player on their books. Those inconsistencies were clear to see yesterday too, as they put in the most ‘Jekyll and Hyde’ display you’ll see this season against Chelsea.

In the opening 45 minutes of Marco Silva’s side’s clash with Chelsea, they were thoroughly played off of the park. The Blues should have smashed the sorry Toffees and had the chances to do so. However, as has happened too often this season, Chelsea couldn’t find a goal. Their lack of a clinical touch then came back to bite them, as in the second half, the Everton team bus finally arrived and they eventually turned up.

Whatever Silva said to his players at the break obviously worked, and it looks like he’ll need to take note of what he did in that 15-minute break as the change in the way his side played before and after was incredible. At the half-time break, it looked like Chelsea would be going on to win a comfortable three points, yet instead, the Toffees were rampant with two second-half goals and were, eventually, well-worth all three points.

The Toffees were rightly fuming at the break yesterday, and for Marco Silva’s sake, it’s a good thing they managed to turn it around in the second-half.
