Though the summer window has provided the Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern with oh so much to shout about over the last few months, things have stalled of late.
Indeed, the Toffees in the Tavern were hoping to see their beloved Blues involved in a major deadline day swoop for a new striker to compliment the likes of Wayne Rooney, Sandro Ramirez and Gylfi Sigurdsson in attack.
While that’s not yet happened, reports from the Daily Mail have at least shed some light on their apparent striker search.
They claim the club have enquired about Chelsea striker MichyBatshuayi over a late move to strengthen their front line. The Belgian has struggled for game time at Stamford Bridge since his £33m arrival last summer, with Alvaro Morata likely to be the first-choice forward for the Premier League champions.
Still, the report claims Batshuayi is likely to remain with his current charges IF Fernando Llorente – linked with a move to Chelsea – joins Tottenham Hotspur instead.
The Spaniard is now expected to join Spurs, who have also been touted as a potential suitor for Toffees outcast Ross Barkley.
It’s a blow for our resident Evertonians, who would have loved to see Batshuayi arrive at Goodison Park, believing him to be their missing ingredient.
Landlord’s Verdict:
Batshuayi would help turn Everton into genuine top six contenders. While he’s struggled at Chelsea, the Belgian’s lethal finishing would give Ronald Koeman’s attack a clinical edge, something they miss right now.
Still, it’d be mad for Chelsea to let him go.
