The Liverpool, fans in the Transfer Tavern are currently enjoying the ongoing contract stand-off between Raheem Sterling and Manchester City. The 23-year-old who bagged an incredible 18 Premier League goals from the wing last season has twice seen contract talks come to a standstill as neither party can come to an agreement over the England star’s wages, prompting De Ja Vu from a number of our resident Reds.
Sterling left Liverpool back in summer 2015 for a fee of over £40 million, however, in today’s market it would take a fee of more than double that to prise Sterling from this City team. The livewire winger has become a new player under Pep Guardiola this season as the ex-Liverpool man’s end product has improved dramatically to see him score 18 goals and register 11 assists in the Premier League in his 33 appearances, the most prolific season in his career to date.
However, the winger is now apparently chasing a pay rise as he looks to be paid similar fees to the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Sergio Aguero and the rest of City’s biggest stars. At the moment it’s reported by Sky Sports News that the winger wants an improvement on his £175,000 per week contract to see him earn a wage of around the £300,000 that Belgian midfielder De Bruyne is supposedly on and considering the number of goals and assists the England man chipped in,it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him getting his wish.

It’s clear from the Liverpool fans tweets that there’s still a lot of bitterness towards Raheem Sterling. The winger left for big money back in 2015 and the fans are holding it against him, although their assessments of the winger could be on the money, ironically, as Sterling’s angling for another huge contract.
