Ex-pro: Why Manchester United are the team to beat this season

Our Manchester United fans here in the Transfer Tavern are looking forward to seeing their side get going once again this weekend with the international break coming to an end.

United would have surely been pretty unhappy with the break coming when it did with them starting in superb form this season – chalking up three wins from three opening games.

For sure, then, they’ll be eager to pick up where they left off this weekend and, speaking to the Sky Sports PL Daily Show on Sky Sports News earlier today, Ray Wilkins thinks they are going to take some stopping.

Indeed, the former United man revealed how impressed he was with the business United did in the summer window and now, in light of that, he says that the Old Trafford club are the ones to beat.

He said:

“Manchester United’s business was done very quickly, very sharply and very professionally.

“They look now as if they have a squad of players that are going to take some beating to be perfectly honest.”

Wilkins, then, seems to think that United are the favourites for the league crown this season and United fans will be eager to see that that translates into a league win.

Landlord’s Verdict

United are flying at the moment and Wilkins is well within his right to tip United as one of the favourites this season.

The likes of Manchester City and Chelsea might have something to say about that, of course, but United are the early pace-setters and look like the ones to beat right now.

Thoughts, United fans? Let us know below!
